150 years of lethargy

Why is that people prefer Road transport to Railways ?
Why is that Road network is so vast but not the Rail network ?
Why is that we are able to buy bus tickets instantaneously but not the Rail tickets ?
Why is that Rail tickets cost more when compared with bus tickets ?
Why is that still Trucks carry most of the goods compared to Railways ?
Why is that there is no sync between the diff. modes of transport ?

You would have got a lot of answers for these questions by now ! The answer is simple ! Lack of competition.

If we have privatised Railways and increased competition, we could have very much saved our forex against Oil bills. Though Rail network is as important as Road and has its inherent advantages, we hardly try to improve them. We have NHAI. But do we have NRAI ?

I m not the right guy to talk about China. What I know is
50 % Tyranny + 30 % Capitalism + 20 % Communism = China ;-o

I still believe in Capitalism. Though Capitalism can't achieve in making every one an Ambani, it would still do its best to reduce people BPL. Though it would obviously widen the gap between the richest(strongest) and the poorest(weakest), we are not going to compare ourselves with Tatas and Mittals. You compare yourself with what you were 10 years ago or with your father 30 years ago. In that way, Capitalism has still achieved a lot.

What is need is communism of opportunities. Every one should still have the same opportunites to succeed (or become stronger). Thats what we should thrive to achieve in our society and thats where I recommend a bit of communism within everyone.
